Family Educator Early Head Start

Description: Reporting to the site supervisor, the Family Educator engages families as full partners in their own and their children’s development and learning through ongoing and regular support in developing and reaching realistic and achievable long and short-term goals, engaging them in assessing their needs and strengths, and supporting them in taking actions to reach their goals. The Family Educator works with ten enrolled participants and their family through weekly 1.5-hour home visits and bi-monthly 2-hour group socializations. The Family Educator works 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. The Family Educator receives ongoing support and development through the site supervisor and individualized coaching for the agency's curriculum approach through the Home Base Specialist.

Education Specialist

Description: As a member of the Education Services department, the Education Services Specialist (ESS) is the educational leader at Child-Parent Center (CPC), guiding teachers, Site Supervisors, staff, parents, volunteers, and community partners. Consistent with the mission of CPC, the ESS ensures high quality Early Childhood Education, school readiness, and the vision of strong communities in Southern Arizona. The ESS develops teachers’ and family educators’ capacity, awareness and implementation of Child Parent Centers’ philosophy, values, and beliefs. Educational coaches use researched based coaching and mentoring strategies to support the implementation of the agency’s Languages of Learning curriculum (based in Reggio Emilia principles and philosophies), state regulatory requirements, and the Office of Head Start performance standards. Coaches provide guidance, feedback, structure and collaboration with staff to increase children’s and families’ successes. Educational coaches use observations, data analysis, evaluation, modeling, co-planning, and collaboration to inform coaching and support professional growth of teaching staff. The Education Specialist is accountable for assuring annual developmental gains for all children. They demonstrate a passion for early childhood education in the classroom, center, throughout CPC, and in the greater community.

Preschool Teacher

Description: Reporting to the lead teacher, the teacher partners with the classroom team in providing comprehensive high-quality early education and child development services for 17 - 20 preschool-aged children enrolled in the assigned classroom. Daily routines promote children’s cognitive, social, health, and emotional growth for later success in school. The teacher receives regular on-going support from the lead teacher and the education specialist (coach) to implement the agency’s Languages of Learning curriculum that includes creating a safe and enriching environment, embedding responsive and effective teacher-child interactions, and fostering partnerships with families by respecting values, strengths, and cultures and welcoming parent's contributions and participation. The teacher position is funded for eight hours per day Monday through Friday, working directly with children for 6.75 hours per day four days of the week. When children are not attending class, the teacher participates in activities such as planning lessons, documenting children's work and outcomes, entering and analyzing child and family data, setting goals, and attending professional development opportunities. The teacher serves as the lead teacher when the lead teacher is absent or steps out of the classroom.
